Service Interval Information

How do you prevent vehicle breakdown and expensive repair?

Schedule preventative maintenance services at your local service center as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer (check with your vehicle owner's manual to learn this schedule.) This will keep your vehicle running efficiently, free from the many common driving complaints Toyota owners share. Although the recommended service schedule varies from one Toyota model to the next, it is generally expected to schedule service at 15,000, 30,000, 60,000, and 90,000 miles. What can you expect during scheduled maintenance service?

15,000-Mile Service

Recommended Oil ChangeThe first recommended tune-up occurs at 15,000-miles for most drivers, although it’s likely that you’ve already had an oil change performed by now. This tune-up is primarily an inspection of the components under the hood, looking for any signs of wear and tear or damage. The brakes and battery are also inspected. The air cabin filter is changed at this tune-up, which helps improves air quality inside the vehicle.

  • Oil Change - Drained and Replaced
  • Check All Fluid Levels - Top Up as Needed
  • Tires Rotated and Balanced
  • Check Air Filter - Replace as Needed
  • 30,000-Mile Service

Tire Rotation IntervalsThe 30,000-mile service includes the same services provided during the first tune-up. However, since there is more age on the vehicle now, the tune-up also includes a more thorough inspection of the vehicle’s many components. A fuel filter replacement is made at the 30,000-mile service. The power steering fluid is also changed, which keeps the vehicle driving smoothly. Additionally, the tune-up includes an inspection of the spark plugs and the spark plug wires, with replacement if necessary.

  • Suspension and Shock Check
  • Check Fuel Filter - Replace as Needed
  • 60,000-Mile Service

At this inspection, the ignition system is the primary focus of attention since components here begin to wear at this age. The transmission fluid and filter are checked and usually changed at this mark in the vehicle’s life. Hoses and gaskets are also inspected and changed at this tune-up. The tune-up will provide the same services as provided at the last two inspections as well.

  • Replace Battery as Needed
  • Inspect Brake Rotors - Replace as Needed
  • Check for Wear on Belts and Hoses - Replace as Needed
  • 90,000-Mile Service

Engine coolant is replaced at the 90,000-mile service. As you probably suspected, the tune-up also includes the prior services that have helped keep your vehicle running smoothly up until this point. The brake pads and lines are replaced and likely, the timing belt will be replaced after an inspection.

Remember, this is just a general guideline of the Toyota service interval schedule and what to expect when you schedule service.
